Mandatory Use of Norton 360 Antivirus

As part of Virtual Coworker’s continued efforts to strengthen our cybersecurity posture and protect both company and client data, the use of Norton 360 Antivirus (AV) is now mandatory for all Virtual Coworker remote staff.

Working remotely means our security perimeter extends beyond a traditional office. Each device used for work plays a direct role in safeguarding sensitive information. To reduce risk and maintain consistent protection across our distributed workforce, Virtual Coworker has standardized on Norton 360 as our approved antivirus solution.

Why Norton 360 Is Required

Cyber threats continue to evolve in speed and sophistication. Malware, ransomware, spyware, and credential-stealing attacks often begin on personal devices before spreading to work systems.

Norton 360 provides:

  • Real-time protection against malware, ransomware, and phishing
  • Web and email threat detection
  • Protection against malicious downloads and unsafe websites
  • Continuous background monitoring with minimal performance impact

Using a standardized antivirus solution enables Virtual Coworker to reduce exposure, respond more quickly to incidents, and meet client security expectations.

What This Means for You

  • Norton 360 must be installed and active on any device used for work.
This includes laptops and desktops (Windows or macOS) used to access company or client systems.
  • Real-time protection must remain enabled at all times.
Disabling antivirus protection, even temporarily, is not permitted while working.
  • No alternative antivirus software shall be accepted.
Neither free antivirus tools nor other paid solutions meet Virtual Coworker’s security requirements.
  • Devices without Norton 360 may be restricted from accessing work systems.
This is necessary to protect the wider organization and our clients.

Your Responsibilities as a Remote Staff Member

  • Keep Norton 360 installed, updated, and running
  • Allow automatic updates and scans
  • Do not ignore security alerts or warnings
  • Report any detected threats or unusual system behavior immediately

Antivirus software is most effective when paired with good security habits, including using 1Password for credentials, enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), keeping systems updated, and staying alert for phishing attempts.
